Spent this Friday morning being inspired and proud by the 2024 Sustainable Justice HBCU Fellows! 👊🏼

The Sustain Our Future Foundation hosted a virtual closing ceremony, honoring fellows from the most recent edition of the Sustainable Justice HBCU Fellowship. This initiative aims to build a new generation of sustainability leaders with a strong environmental justice mindset, while placing Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students at the forefront. Through the Fellowship, HBCU students gain professional experiences in sustainability and environmental justice, leadership development coaching, and connections with experts in the sustainability and environmental justice industry. For more information on the Fellowship, click here.

I’ve been an immense supporter of this program and the WRISE + Grid Alternatives Solar Fellows Program, whose newest cohort is being honored again this year at RE+ in Anaheim! For a recap of last year’s program, check out my post here.

This latest cohort pulled together research projects ranging from measuring impact of sustainable operations based on policy decisions to primers on how to maintain green building certification programs, and much more. 🍃

Alayssia Crawford, Sky Hunt, Madisyn Hicks, Madison Maxwell, Camryn Millon, Iyana Gross & Ajinkya Soumas, keep up the great work, and thanks for letting me be a part of your journey! 👏🏻

Thanks to Yinka N. Bode-George, Aissa Dearing & Team for all their hard work around this program. I was very fortunate to meet Yinka through Gilbert Campbell and Volt Energy Utility around the time I worked with the EDPR team to pull together an announcement around Google’s environmental justice program. Yinka is a force of nature, full of energy, thoughtfulness, and passion. I very much look forward to brainstorming additional ways to support her and her mission.

For those of you who’ve made it to the end of this, I encourage you to check out her organization, Sustain the Future Foundation, and get involved!
