My writing journey began 1.5 years ago when I started to draft an OpEd to commemorate the anniversary of the death of a longtime mentor, Lt. Col. Bill Holmberg, known as the “Godfather of Biomass & Biofuels”. As if nudged by Bill from above, Eric Koester & New Degree Press at Georgetown University reached out at the same time to encourage me to “tell the story of renewables” and as they say, timing is everything. Fast-forward to this weekend, I became an author with the launch of #WeTookTheRisk.
The book – as well as most of our renewable energy careers – would not have been possible without the 25 executives featured in the book taking a risk on renewables. My sincere thanks to these leaders who took time to recap their adventures and the longstanding impact they have had on the cleantech industry here in the US: Tracey A. LeBeau, Scott Sklar, Tony Clifford, Michael Eckhart, Mindy Lubber, John Cavalier, Michael Liebreich, Andy Karsner, Wendolyn Holland, Steve Chalk, Drew Bond, Carol Battershell, Amy Chiang, Claire Broido Johnson, Jigar Shah, Mark Culpepper, Loretta Prencipe, Richard Dovere, Candice Michalowicz, Nancy Floyd, Daniel Shugar, Kelly Speakes-Backman, Jeff Bishop, Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade & of course Bill.
The book has started to break Amazon best seller records in a number of categories and I’m honestly humbled and taken aback. #WeTookTheRisk is not perfect, but it’s a start to document the rich history of our industry.
Information on the book is below in comments and I appreciate you grabbing a copy. I hope you join me in celebrating these leaders and #TakeTheRisk in advancing our industry to its next phase.
